Heat Treatment Of Gears

Heat Treatment Of Gears

Heat Treatment of Gears. Built for Endurance.

Marine Industrial Gears Corporation provides comprehensive in-house heat treatment services, including gas carburizing, induction hardening, stress-relieving, and through-hardening — all designed to enhance gear strength, wear resistance, and service life.

Our carburizing process allows iron and steel components to absorb carbon when heated, producing a hard, durable surface while maintaining a tough, flexible core. We work with a range of alloys, including 3310, 4320, 4820, 8620, and 18CrNiMon7, ensuring optimal hardness and performance.

Heat Treating Capabilities

Gear Induction Hardening

Gear Design & Engineering. Innovation Through Precision.

At Marine Industrial Gears Corporation, our team of engineers and designers work collaboratively to develop detailed, high-performance gear designs tailored to customer requirements. From concept to completion, we focus on precision, durability, and manufacturability to ensure every product meets exact specifications.

We also provide comprehensive technical support throughout the design and production process, helping customers optimize performance, resolve challenges, and achieve long-term reliability in their gear systems.

Gear Induction Hardening

A form of surface heat treatment in which a metal part is heated by induction heating and then quenched.

Newly installed CNC gear induction hardening machine

Gears to 5.0m diameter x 0.75m face

Shafts to 3.0m length x 1.25m face

Optimized for gear pitches of 3.0DP to 0.75DP

Nondestructive ultrasonic case depth testing

Through Hardening Carbon and alloy steels (1045, 4130, 4140, 4330v, 4340, etc.) that are hardened to ranges between 200 – 400 BHN.
